Lorraine Turner

Lorraine Turner was born on April 5, 1975 in Meadville, PA. Soon after, in 1979, her family left Pennsylvania and moved to Memphis, TN where she began to attend school. Later on the family moved to Oxford, MS where Lorraine resides today.

Lorraine began singing early and was already performing for family and friends at the age of five. In Oxford she became a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church choir where she sang gospel music which she also loved. At the same time she was listening to and absorbing the music of Aretha Franklin who became her idol. Soon Lorraine began to use her talents to perform in many different places. She would sing in talent shows and anywhere else she could. Lorraine decided to turn her vocal talent into more than just a hobby and began to sing professionally with different local groups. She performed at weddings, parties, clubs and banquets, all the while gaining the experience that would lead her to move on to even greater heights. In addition to singing, she also discovered that she had the ability to write songs and began to pen her own compositions to sing. This led her to a local recording studio in Oxford to record some of her songs. Two of those songs ended up gaining the attention of Larry Chambers at Ecko Records in Memphis who recognized her talents and invited her to come up for a visit.

In the summer of 2005 Lorraine signed with Ecko Records and began recording her first CD. The result was "Shake It Down", a CD that highlighted her vocal abilities as well as her writing skills. Lorraine displayed a naturalness in her voice that made her singing sound effortless. Her tone was sweet and unforced yet also powerful. Radio programmers fell in love with her fresh new sound and several cuts from the CD began to be added to radio play lists immediately. "Now I'm Cheating On You", "You Lost A Fortune", and the self penned "Let Me Make Love To You" have all already received a great deal of attention and have served to introduce this extraordinary new talent to the public.

Lorraine says that she is now on her way to fulfilling her dreams. And if her first CD is any indication, she is definitely right.
